Claire Kockott, owner and curator at Driftwood Studios, established the residency in 2007 with her late husband, renowned sculptor George Kockott. With 26 years of experience in South Africa’s art and community development sectors, Claire brings extensive local networks and project management expertise to each residency. Her work includes funding proposal writing and managing corporate art commissions, notably for The Keiskamma Art Project’s Mercedes-Benz commission. A practicing potter and watercolorist, Claire connects artists with local communities, galleries, and cultural sites. She’s also a founder member of Green Living East London, championing sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.
